This view was painted late afternoon after a days drawing at Dungeness. Having arrived in Dymchurch with 3 regular painting buddies, Dan Williams, Blaise Thompson and Mick Armson, we set off in different directions. Sand blew across my wet painting and into my face as the clouds grew bigger and the light behind them intensified. It’s a very expansive and open beach and the tide was out and rivulets of receding water caught the fading light as people walked dogs, staring out to France, maybe contemplating the impending madness of March 2019!
