About the Print
Guarding Whitley Bay, just north of Tynemouth, is St. Mary’s Lighthouse completed in 1898. A wonderfully striking structure, it is very similar in design to the High Light Tower Dungeness (lighthouse nerd!).
It was a particularly cold but sunny day on a painting trip with Mick Armson in February that I sat amongst the rockpools, the towering lighthouse slowly emerging from the paper, its reflection doubling its stature.
